4. Eligibility Criteria (Who Can Apply?)

A. Educational Qualification

  • You must have passed the Matriculation (10th Class) exam under the 10+2 system with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized board.
  • You must hold an ITI Certificate (NCVT or SCVT affiliated) in the relevant trade you are applying for.(Note: Engineering graduates and diploma holders cannot apply for this apprentice post.)

B. Age Limit (As of 23 March 2026)

  • Minimum Age: 15 Years
  • Maximum Age: 24 Years
  • Age Relaxation: SC and ST candidates get an extra 5 years, OBC candidates get an extra 3 years, and PwBD (Handicapped) candidates get an extra 10 years in the upper age limit.

6. Selection Process (No Written Exam)

Unlike other government jobs, there is no written test or syllabus to study for the RRC WR Apprentice 2026 recruitment. The selection is done purely on a merit basis.

  1. Merit List Generation: The railway board will calculate the average of your 10th-class marks and your ITI-class marks. Both qualifications will be given equal (50%-50%) weightage to create the final merit list.
  2. Document Verification: Selected candidates will be called to show their original 10th mark sheet, ITI certificate, and caste certificates.
  3. Medical Examination: You will have to undergo a basic fitness test to ensure you meet the medical standards of the Indian Railways.

7. Monthly Stipend & Benefits

Candidates selected for the apprentice program will undergo training for 1 year. During this time, you will not receive a regular salary, but a fixed monthly stipend:

  • For 10th Pass Candidates: Rs. 6,000/- per month.
  • For ITI Pass Candidates: Rs. 7,000/- per month.

Biggest Benefit: After completing this one-year training, you will get a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC). This certificate gives you a direct 20% reservation preference in future Railway Level-1 (Group D) direct recruitment exams!
